A section of the press recently reported that comedian Singamuthu had reportedly cheated Vadivelu off some lakhs of rupees in a non-existent land deal. Singamuthu, on the other hand, allege that the story was nothing but a figment of Vadivelu's imagination as he didn't like the way Singamuthu managed to make his son a hero in a film under production.
Singamuthu adds that Vadivelu had been trying frantically to make his son Subramani a hero in films but couldn't succeed all these years. Now that he has managed to do what Vadevelu couldn't, Singamuthu says that Vadivelu is planting all sort of stories in the press to malign his name and to finish off his career in Kollywood. Singamuthu dares Vadivelu to go to Court, if what he says is really true.
Speaking about a relatively and largely unknown side to his personal, Singamuthu says that he has been practicing and delivering religious discourses on Tamil epics like Tiruppaavai and Tiruvembaavai at many places all over the State
